Microsoft Corp. provides MSN Direct, an advanced location-based service for navigation devices that can help consumers reduce commute time and gas costs. Leading navigation device manufacturers such as Garmin, Pioneer, Goodyear, Alpine, Kenwood Corp., Mio Technology Corp. and Nextar Inc., along with automotive manufacturers BMW AG, Scion and Suzuki Motor Corp., are offering MSN Direct-enabled navigation devices and solutions. MSN Direct now provides three times more traffic coverage and has also added flight status information and Doppler weather maps. These new services will be offered on select MSN Direct-compatible navigation devices and will expand upon what is already an exceptional array of features offered by MSN Direct, including Smart Traffic, weather, gas prices, news headlines, stock quotes, local events, movie times and Send to GPS using Live Search Maps.
Navteq, a leading global provider of digital map data for location-based solutions and vehicle navigation, is working with the Broadcaster Traffic Consortium, LLC (BTC) as the provider of real-time traffic and other location-based information for portable navigation devices and automobile in-dash systems via HD Radio™ technology. The high bandwidth capacity of HD technology allows NAVTEQ and the BTC to deliver high-quality, up-to-the-minute information including traffic flow and points of interest to consumers when and where they need it most.
Clear Channel’s Total Traffic Network (CCTN) provides RDS-TMC traffic content to 130 million people in 49 U.S. markets and has announced new real-time traffic services over HD Radio™ channels called HD-TMC. The traffic data on the HD service is a combination of the Total Traffic Network and INRIX's floating car data, monitored by Clear Channel's local traffic data producers. Even in the largest metropolitan areas, real-time traffic information is transmitted in less than a minute, providing a quick, reliable way for drivers to get where they need to go safely. CCTTN provides current traffic info for 125 metro areas in four countries.

In one of the most revolutionary moves since Frank Conrad introduced radio broadcasting in 1919, iBiquity Digital Corporation has created HD Radio™ Technology to bring AM and FM radio into the digital 21st century. This breakthrough technology allows digital radio signals to ride the same airwaves as analog AM and FM radio broadcasts, bringing crystal-clear sound from any radio station to the listening public along with new audio channels to FM and wireless data services. The HD Radio™ In-Band, On-Channel (IBOC) system is the only FCC-approved system for AM and FM. It provides for true, end-to-end digital broadcasting within the existing spectrum and allows with continued analog broadcasts to legacy receivers.
