Sid Agrawal

Sid brings more than twenty five years of experience at startup and established high technology companies. At startup ventures, Sid has held executive management positions at Alliance Semiconductor (IPO), Layer Five Networks (acquired by Juniper) and Synaptics (IPO). Prior to startups, Sid held leadership marketing, sales and engineering positions at Adobe, Intel and Bell Labs. Sid holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, an M.S. degree from Southern Illinois University and an M.B.A. degree from the University of Chicago.

 

Aiman Kabakibo
Sr. Vice President of Engineering & Director

Aiman brings more than eighteen years of experience in VLSI and Systems engineering. Prior to co-founding SiPort, Aiman held the position of Vice President of VLSI and Subscriber Engineering at Terayon where he brought to market more than twenty integrated circuits for cable modem and CMTS products, which had a combined volume over ten million units. Aiman was also responsible for the development of the DOCSIS cable modem product line for Terayon, which shipped over 2 million units. Prior to his nine years at Terayon, Aiman held multiple engineering management positions at HAL Computer Systems/Fujitsu and Sun Microsystems. Aiman holds BSEE degree from University of Tennessee and MSEE degree from Purdue University.

 

Oren Arad
Vice President of System & Technology

Oren brings nearly fifteen years of experience in communication systems, signal processing and algorithms. Prior to co-founding SiPort, Oren was the PHY/system architect of Terayon where he defined Terayon’s innovative communication ICs. Prior to Terayon, Oren was a senior algorithm engineer at Ultracom and National Semiconductors, developing wire-line and wireless communication systems and voice products. Oren holds a BSEE (Cum Laude) from Tel-Aviv University and completed the MSEE program in San Jose University.

 

Sunder Velamuri
Vice President of Marketing

Sunder brings twenty years of experience in the Semiconductor industry. He has defined visionary products for the mobile, embedded, automotive and consumer electronics markets. Prior to joining SiPort, Sunder served as the General Manager of Mobile Products at Nvidia Corporation. Prior to Nvidia, Sunder co-founded and led the marketing and product development efforts at MediaQ, a highly successful handset chip provider (acquired by Nvidia). Prior to the ten years at MediaQ/Nvidia, Sunder held management and technical positions at S3, Chips and Technologies and National Semiconductor. Sunder holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India and M.S.E.E degree from North Carolina A&T State University

 

Brian Pugh
Vice President of Operation

Brian brings to SiPort nearly twenty five years of experience in Semiconductor Operations. Before joining SiPort, Brian lead Operations for Quorum Systems, a leading innovator in multi-mode CMOS radio ICs for the cell phone industry. Before Quorum, he served as Sr. Director of Operations for Silicon Wave, where he had responsibility for transitioning from design to production all ICs from the company’s Bluetooth and broadband digital cable tuners product lines. Prior to Silicon Wave, Brian held management and technical positions at Samsung, Watkins-Johnson, and IBM. Brian’s leadership in the industry has also been recognized by ARFTG, the IEEE associated measurements expertise society, where he served various roles including conference chair and as its President. Brian received B.A. degrees in Physics and in Computer Science with Distinction in General Scholarship from U.C. Berkeley, and an M.S. in Applied Physics from Stanford University.

Christopher J. Schaepe
Lightspeed Venture Partners, General Partner

Christopher J. Schaepe is a founding general partner of Lightspeed Venture Partners, an early-stage technology venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, CA.  He has 14 years of venture capital experience and focuses on investments in the areas of infrastructure technologies, semiconductors and digital media.  Mr. Schaepe has been responsible for investments including AMEC, Brocade, Ciena, Combinet, Galileo Technology, LightLogic, Lightspeed International, Premisys, Quantum Effect Devices, Rhythm NewMedia, Riverbed, SemEquip, SiPort, Terayon, Transmeta, Tzero and Unity.  Prior to joining Weiss, Peck & Greer Venture Partners in 1991, Mr. Schaepe served in corporate finance and capital markets roles at Goldman, Sachs & Co.  Previously, he was a software engineer at IBM.  Mr. Schaepe holds BS and MS degrees in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from MIT and an MBA from Stanford Business School. 

 

Drew Lanza
Morgenthaler Ventures, General Partner

Drew Lanza joined Morgenthaler, in California, in 2000 and became a General Partner in 2001. Drew focuses on semiconductors and components, and he also works with materials and devices and large systems. He is currently a Director of Brion Technologies, Cortina Systems, Overture Networks, Ultradots Inc. and Unity Semiconductor. He also regularly attends Caspian, Wave7 Optics and Xoomsys board meetings. Drew spent 15 years in senior operating positions in the telecommunications industry starting companies in both the components and the systems sectors of that industry. He served as Senior VP of Marketing at MAYAN Networks, building aggregation systems for the metropolitan edge market. Prior to that Drew was a founder and VP of Engineering at E/O Networks where he helped to design and produce a long reach rural fiber optic telephony system. Drew started his optical telecommunications career in 1986 at Raynet, a pioneering company in the development of fiber to the home technologies. Drew's many roles at Raynet included VP of Marketing and VP of International Development. Drew was the founding CEO of Lightwave Microsystems, a leader in the design and manufacture of high volume optical integrated circuits. Drew graduated magna cum laude from Harvard with an MBA in 1987. He received his BSEE & MSEE degrees from Stanford in 1979.

 

Richard L. Sanquini

Richard had a twenty-year tenure at National Semiconductor, where he managed key business units, including microprocessors and microcontrollers, served as the chief technology officer, managed business development and intellectual property protection, and was the Chairman of two joint ventures in China. Prior to National Semiconductor, he was the President and CEO of Information Storage Devices and General Manager and Director of the memory and microprocessor businesses at RCA. Richard is currently the Chairman of the Board of PortalPlayer and a member of the Board of Synaptics, Zilog and two private companies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering, Wisconsin.

 

T. W. Kang

T. W. Kang is Managing Director of Global Synergy Associates, a management consulting firm focusing on enhancing global competence of multinational high technology firms. List of Fortune 500 clients include Philips Electronics, Daimler Benz, Siemens, IBM Corporation, Intel Corporation, Mitsubishi Electric, and the Samsung Group. From 1979-90, he held various management positions with Intel Corporation involving marketing and product planning for the worldwide market and management in Japan and Korea. His most recent position with Intel was as System Group General Manager at Intel Japan. He earned his BSEE degree from MIT, and MBA from the Harvard Business School, and is author of six books in English, Japanese, and Korean including IS KOREA THE NEXT JAPAN and GAISHI, THE FOREIGN COMPANY IN JAPAN.
