SiPort Products :: SP1010

SiPORTThe SiPort® SP1010™ Terrestrial Digital Broadcast Receiver is a highly integrated CMOS tuner and baseband chip. This multiband single-chip receiver enables Digital Radio and Digital Data Services from terrestrial broadcasts on popular mobile platforms such as Personal Navigation Devices (PND) and MP3 Players. The SiPort SP1010 offers unmatched performance per milliwatt and enables a new generation of data services and digital content on popular mobile platforms. The combination of RF and digital logic on a single die fabricated in standard CMOS process enables mobile devices to have high performance, low power consumption, attractive price points, and small form factors. The SP1010's design provides superior RF performance and interference rejection in all operating modes. Digital Signal Processing (DSP) enables the baseband to provide performance previously found only in expensive, high-end receivers. The software-programmable configuration enables multi-standard reception with no compromise on performance/power ratios. The SP1010 handles all symbol decoding, synchronization, de-interleaving, error detection, and error-correction functions.

In Digital Data Services modes, the SP1010 receives broadcast signals from an antenna, demodulates and decrypts the data received and sends out the decoded data stream to an external host processor for displaying the new content whether updating a Point of Interest (POI) on a Personal Navigation Device (PND) or downloading a new song to the MP3 Player.

Software:

The SiPort SDK provides an API that makes it easy for a host application processor to control the operation of the SP1010. The API set is intended to be highly portable to various hosts and makes no assumptions about the underlying communication mechanism. The API is specified and written so as to shield the host application from the low-level details of the interface and the SP1010.  To minimize the burden for the host application processor, the SiPort SDK keeps the memory footprint and MIPS requirement at a minimum. In addition to the API and reference application code, a comprehensive software tool suite is provided to facilitate the evaluation, development and manufacturing of SP1010 applications. The SiPort SDK fully supports the iBiquity’s v1.12 command set and offers extensions for advanced functionality.  In addition to the SiPort SDK, iBiquity provides full support for the SP1010 with the just released SDK v3.3.
